I can still remember the smell of gingerbread cookies in the air as I stood beside my dad as we prepared the dough and cut out the shapes.
And then there's the Annabelle cake—a staple in our household! My mom made hundreds of Annabelle Cakes growing up for every occasion imaginable, from birthdays to holidays. I can still recall the excitement of sneaking a spoonful of batter when my mom wasn't looking! The name "Annabelle cake" holds a special significance, named after my dad's childhood pet chicken, Annabelle, whose eggs were an important ingredient in this cherished family recipe.
